A hidden gem on Worth Ave breathes life into Via Bice

Tucked in the courtyard of Worth Avenue’s Via Bice is Coastal Girls, a boutique gem offering a hand-selected collection of Women’s apparel, accessories and gifts.

Owned by Dionne Schneider and curated with the help of her two sisters, the shop boasts a range of items – printed dresses are accented by handmade jewelry; monogram beach bags flank pocket-sized perfumes.

The three women grew up “playing store” in their parent’s closet in Indiana, and always loved the idea of sharing a business together. Frequent summers in South Florida landed the siblings here permanently, allowing them to make their dreams a reality.

“I’m so lucky to have sisters who are friends,” Dionne says. “Coastal Girls is taking a great memory from the past and applying it to right now.”

You won’t find big name brands here – instead, the trio has curated a collection of brands and products from their travels around the world, as well developing an in-house clothing line.

They take special interest in small, women-owned businesses who create products you can’t find anywhere else, with prices ranging from $30 to $7,000 – truly offering something for everyone.

“There’s nothing cooler than supporting other women –crossing barriers, helping one another, and being a part of each other’s stories,” she says.

Aesthetically, they’re in pursuit of styles that fit the Coastal Girl look, which Dionne describes as “Palm Beach Chic”.

“You can wear it to the club, to dinner, to Publix – What you find in this store, you can wear anywhere in Palm Beach”, she says.

In addition to hand-picked product, Dionne prides herself on customer service.

“Our motto is ‘Come as a guest, leave as a friend’ – and that has been our motto since day one”, she notes.

With this is mind, Coastal Girls offers complementary personal styling by appointment. Customers can receive anything from a wardrobe consultation to bespoke tailor-made pieces especially for them.

The best part? The team can turn around a fully custom look in as little as two weeks.

Says Dionne of the service, “We love to make women feel beautiful – so if we don’t have it, we make it.”

Originally located on South Dixie in West Palm Beach, Coastal Girls outgrew two separate locations and, heeding encouragement from their landlord, moved to the current Worth Ave home.

Longtime customers will recognize one key thing that’s stayed with the store across all moves – the big green couch centered in the middle of the shop.

“It’s seen marriages, divorces, job losses, therapy sessions – and whatever happens here, does not leave this store”, says Dionne.

There’s nothing like feel-good shopping – and with a portion of all sales donated to the Palm Beach School for Autism, you’re sure to get that here.

So head over to Worth and pay Dionne a visit – and maybe even leave some secrets in the safety of the big green couch.
